Starting this Sunday, Erev Yom Kippur, an event titled "Palestine Writes (a literary festival)" is being held at the University of Pennsylvania. But rather than being an event to celebrate literary skills, a quick look at the speakers and sessions reveal that this is a Destroy Israel celebration of terrorism and terrorists of no literary value and no semblance at all that the Palestinian people are peace lovers or seek anything other than justification for their violence. Many, many Penn alums, supporters, pro-Israel organizations and other decent people called on Penn to, at the very least distance itself from the event. "Academic Freedom" and "Free Speech" were the shields raised by Penn leadership to refuse those calls.
And now, to add grave insult to deep injury, we learned that Pennsylvania taxpayers' money was given by the state to fund this hatefest.
